The largest use of adhesives in China is in the construction building materials and decoration industry, accounting for about 27% of the total output of adhesives in China; followed by the packaging, labeling and wood processing industries. In 2017, China sold 7.887 million tons of adhesive products, with sales reaching 98.78 billion yuan. Among them, the total sales volume of water-based adhesives reached 4,619,500 tons, accounting for 58.6% of the total sales volume of adhesives in China, which has steadily accounted for half of the world.

Definition and classification of water-based adhesives
According to GB/T29432008 "adhesive terminology" definition, adhesive (adhesive) for the physical or chemical action, can make the bonded material together. Water-based adhesives are natural polymers or synthetic polymers as the adhesive, with water as the solvent or dispersant, instead of toxic and harmful organic solvents that pollute the environment, and prepared into an environmentally friendly adhesive.
